Beneath The Cross Of Jesus-Duet at Faith Baptist

Beneath the cross of Jesus
I find a place to stand,
And wonder at such mercy
That calls me as I am;
For hands that should discard me
Hold wounds which tell me, "Come."
Beneath the cross of Jesus
My unworthy soul is won

Beneath the cross of Jesus
His family is my own
Once strangers chasing selfish dreams,
Now one through grace alone.
How could I now dishonor
The ones that You have loved?
Beneath the cross of Jesus
See the children called by God.

Beneath the cross of Jesus
The path before the crown
We follow in His footsteps
Where promised hope is found.
How great the joy before us
To be His perfect bride;
Beneath the cross of Jesus
We will gladly live our lives.

Bridal Tea

Saturday we were able to have a bridal tea/shower at our home for Christina! She and Miguel are having a wedding ceremony in July and with summer almost here, she wanted to have the shower before I left. So with the Lord's help we were able to pull it off without much time to plan, and it all worked out!
Setting up for the tea party....
Mommy worked really hard to make everything just right for the party. She put a lot of love into each item...
Almost time for the luncheon to start...
These beautiful tea cups were an answer to prayer! We only own one normal sized tea cup with a saucer, but once again the Lord provided through a family friend who has several in her collection!! They were perfect and all the ladies enjoyed using them...even the younger ones!
 Signing a card.....
Christina arrived and we were running late, so she graciously waited inside the living room till everything was ready!:) Here she is excited and ready for the tea party!
It was fun to see the younger girls enjoying the experience of making and drinking their own tea....
After lunch, we all came inside for some games. Someone had joked about playing musical chairs and so we decided to do a few impromptu rounds of it....Christina won!;)
The younger girls got to have their own round too...:)
One of the games we played was a challenge to draw a wedding dress with your eyes closed, unless you very young.;)
It was an interesting and fun experience to see a room full of girls with their eyes shut drawing! It was definitely very quiet and you could hear the pencils clicking away...:)
Christina and her best friend Amy working on their drawings.....
 Judging.....
After the games Christina opened gifts....
With lots of love...:)

Visiting with her friends in the last few moments before they needed to leave....
A picture of us older cousins....
 All her Aunts....
These hardworking mothers got a chance to "put their feet up" after the guests had left.:) It was good to see them all enjoying a chance to visit and relax.....
The guys got back not long after that and were more than happy to help out with all the leftovers...;)
 Having fun.....
The boys had a fun early morning beach trip, then the park and lunch at Mexicasa.
Mommy and Aunt Kimberly went to spend some time together after the shower,  so Uncle Victor and the kiddos spent a few hours with us! The guys always enjoy that.
Janelle collecting her siblings to leave.....always hard to do when you're having such a good time..:)
With six boys our toys consist of a lot of guy stuff. The girls, Emily, Rachel and Evie needed some feminine encouragement to get their minds off of swords and guns so we went into the bathroom and styled their hair for fun.
It was fun to curl Evie's hair for the first time but overall, she was simply not impressed with it. I was  glad because as much as we want to encourage our girls to be feminine we don't want to encourage them to be vain. We talked with the girls about how the real "prettiness" comes from the inside by obeying what the Scriptures tell us to do and that that is what God is most pleased with.
 Showing Daddy....
It was really sweet to see how both girls were so very pleased with whatever "Daddy" thought was beautiful.....

With that said, I think this is a good way to close. The Lord is interested in our hearts and our appearances, but they need to be kept to the standard He sets and not what we like. Just like little girls look to their Daddy's for "beautiful" so we should be looking to the Lord for His "beautiful."

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.

A Surprise Visit And Tea Parties

Among other things that happened this weekend, we had a wonderful surprise for Mommy on Thursday afternoon. It was hard to keep it from her but it was well worth it!!:)
 The reaction!:)

....Auntie Esther was in town!!!!!:) Auntie Esther is one of our oldest and dearest family friends! She is Uncle Daniel and Uncle Paul Brimlow's youngest sister, and their family adopted mom spiritually back when she was a young girl.:)
She moved to Louisiana last year, and we have missed having her local...:) She's one of those special people, filled with genuine love for every person that comes her way! She is a very rare type of person and we all love her so much!!:)
We all enjoyed getting to visit with Esther's boys' Ian and Christian....
Lots to share with our dear Auntie Esther since we last saw her....
Daniel and Ian both share an interest in card tricks and illusions! They really enjoyed exchanging ideas and sharing new things they'd learned with each other....
Mommy gave Ian a video someone shared with us done by a Christian illusionist....
The guys enjoyed using the ropes.....
Sisters and family in the Lord....:)
 Saying our goodbyes....
We also had our first tea party with Evie, a little impromptu but very fun!
She did really well for her first time drinking out of a tea cup....
 Practicing our tea etiquette....
The boys saw us having one and wanted to have one as well. So we re-set the table, filled the plate with more sandwiches and bowl with strawberries.....
Pepperoni and mayonnaise on wheat bread with strawberries....
 Serving the "tea" (lemonade).....
 Daniel joined in ...:)
Both tea parties were a success and a good opportunity for us to practice for a wedding shower we would be hosting at our house Saturday. Here we have all the tea cups lined up in preparation for the event....

"All men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider His doing. The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory."

Home Life And Haircuts

Home life is often filled with lots of precious memories. A lot of times we take them for granted. God gives us our lives and we are not guaranteed how long we have. This has been an encouragement to me to appreciate things more. With this in mind, here are some of those memories that God has given to our family lately. Good memories are made......
Especially when the kiddos dress up...:)
Or the times they decide to try out new and exciting challenges like sitting in a box for an hour. Isaiah and Daniel were working on it here....
 Doing schoolwork with Mommy.....
Learning new things everyday in Ryan's animation class.....
Having fun with a different type of "toy".....
Wearing a new homeade dress for the first time.....
A lederhosen jumper for Opa to see.....:)
Working on math and writing with Mommy after nap time....
Watching them learn to write their own name, spell and read is such a neat opportunity you get to have when you homeschool....
Breaking for lunch during a busy school day provides time to fellowship together....:)
Learning to cut hair better, thanks to Uncle Victor...:)
Lot's of fun conversations with my "victims" as I work on my haircutting skills...:)
No matter what happens though, they are very gracious and accepting of the results..;)
Usually have a lot of laughing going on during these times.....
Daniel's animated expressions make the experience all the more exciting...;)

Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
